8 Random Facts About Dogs!

#8- Different breeds of dog dream differently:
Smaller dogs, like a chihuahua might dream very often, like every ten minutes. While a bigger dog, an example is a rottweiler might dream every hour or two. Also, dogs sometimes imitate what they are doing in their sleep for example, this dog!

#7- The only place where dogs' sweat is their feet / paws. According to some people, their dogs' feet smell like corn chips.. I don't get why people smell their dogs' own feet, but sure why not?

#6- Every dog's nose is unique- just like a human's fingerprint. So we can identify our own dogs by their nose! But I'm pretty sure dogs won't agree with putting their nose in an ink pad..

#5- Dalmatians are born completely white. They get their black spots in their fur as they grow.

#4- A dog wagging its tail doesn't always mean it's happy. If the tail wags to the right, the dog is happy. If it wags to the left then the dog is frightened. And when it wags low when the dogs' muscles are tense then it is a sign that the dog is aggravated.

#3- Many people think that dogs see in only black and white but they see in a sort of blue and yellow scale but they can't tell the difference between red and green. They have better night vision then us though!

#2-  Dogs can smell disease. If a dog is acting strange around you then it could be that you're sick. Some dogs can even sense when someone is about the have an epileptic seizure. And this means that they can sense cancer as well.

#1- Dog (umm.. uhh...) pee can damage metal.. In 2003, a group of  lamp-posts fell in Croatia. Of course peeing dogs were blamed of this. Everyone thinks ''Meh, might as well let my dog pee all over this lamp-post.'' when little do they know, their dog is slowly destroying it..

I'm obviously not going to leave this post with a picture of a real dog peeing on a lamp-post or fire-hydrant so I'm gonna use this instead..

The Most Famous Dogs In History!

All dogs can be trained different things like go fetch, sit, stay, etc. But these dogs that I'm about to list are known by lots of people because of a certain thing that happened to them or what action they did. (Note:these dogs are very famous although some are dead. But they are still remembered. Plz don't cri.)
  #6-Balto
When a serious case of diphtheria went to Nome(in Alaska), The city was infected. The only doctor didn't have enough medicine for everyone, so the port was closed when it became Winter. But then a pack of sled dogs that was lead by Balto ran six-hundred and fifty miles across Alaska (for five and a half days) and brought the diphtheria medicine just in time.
 #5-Checkers
Richard Nixon- former US president was yet to become president, he was receiving private donations. One of these donations was Checkers, he belonged to Nixon's daughter. When Nixon was  saying his speech to become president he said ''You know the kids, like all kids, loved the dog, and I just want to say this, right now, regardless of what they say about it, we are going to keep it.'' Checkers was the main reason why Nixon became the US president. When Nixon got to the White House, Checkers sadly passed away. But he will always be known as the dog that saved the career of Richard Nixon.

 #4- Rin Tin Tin
Rin Tin Tin was saved from the trenches of WW1(World War One if you don't know..). He was saved on a French battlefield by an American soldier called Lee Duncan. They arrived to the US and Duncan trained Rin and got him a few roles in some silent movies. In 1929 Rin got a role in a movie called ''Where the North Begins''. This movie was made by Warner Bros. The film and Rin were a great success. Rin Tin Tin then starred in twenty-seven other movies. People believe that Rin is the one responsible for making Warner Bros not enter the verge of being bankrupt.

 #3- Argos
Back in Ancient Greece, Argos was a dog who was very faithful and loved his master. His master was named Odysseus. He raised Argos ever since he was a puppy, but Odysseus was the King of Ithaca so he left for the Trojan war and he was gone for twenty years. When Odysseus returned not even his own family could recognise him, but Argos could and he started to wag his tail. Soon after Argos greeted his master, he passed away.

 #2-Capitan
Capitan's owner, Manuel Guzman died in 2006. Because of this Capitan ran away from home. The family found Capitan mourning at his owner's grave. He returns to Manuel's grave every night. Hector Baccega, a cemetery director said that the staff at the central Argentinian cemetery are now taking care of Capitan.

 #1- Lassie
Lassie is the most famous dog but she is a fictional character. From 1943 to 2007 Lassie was depicted by a male collie called Pal(Pal is the dog in the photo). Lassie's character is a female dog, but she was sometimes played by male collies like Pal because they had a thicker coat in Summer so they were more ''fluffy.'' Random Fact: To make sure human child actors didn't outgrow lassie while filming, male collies were used because they were bigger than female collies.

Here is a clip from the start of a lassie movie. This one was made in 1994, not that long ago.

  My Favourite Dog Breeds!

Among all dog breeds, there is always a few that you will absolutely love. So here are my personal favourite breeds of dogs!
 #6- The Puggle
As you can probably tell, the puggle is a mix between the pug and beagle dog breeds. They get along with children and other dogs so they are quite a popular breed. These dogs shed a bit and they like to bark very often. They are smart and caring but they are not that enthusiastic when it comes to training.

 #5- Pekingese
These dogs were bred to be great companions in China. Something surprising about them is that they barely shed but they've so much long hairs. But since their hair is long, that means they need more grooming then other dogs. (because they shed a little so their hair gets more longer more often.) They enjoy hunting so make sure it has a leash on if a bird flies past or if a cat walks by.

 #4- The Golden Retriever
The golden retriever is a very friendly dog that is great to have as a pet. They are smart so they are capable to be working dogs. Some examples of their work is being able to track things easily, hunt easily and they can be trained to sniff out drugs. Golden Retrievers are full of energy and they are always enthusiastic to play/exercise.

 #3- The Pembroke Welsh Corgi
There are two breeds of Welsh corgis - Pembroke and Cardigan. Thev Pembroke Welsh corgi was originally bred to herd sheep, horses and cattle. These dogs are good with children and they're easy to train. They are usually enthusiastic about playing or learning.

 #2- The Pug
The pug has a curly pig-like tail and a flat nose. It was originally bred to be a lap dog. ( A dog which is small enough to be held in the arms of a person and to sit on the lap of a person) They are good companion dogs. Pugs really don't like to be alone but they really enjoy playing. I love pugs but there is just one dog breed that I prefer more than this one.

My Absolute Favourite Dog- The Jack Russel Terrier!!
The Jack Russel Terrier was originally bred to hunt foxes. It is a independent, cheerful, breed. They are always wanting to play or train with their owner. It sheds a bit and it has a big potential for gaining more weight. for example my dog- which is named Dixy. She is really fat..

I'm pretty sure she needs to go on a diet.. We fed her way too many leftovers..

Anyways, these were my top 6 dog breeds and I hope you liked it!

                                          Yay Dogs!

   The Doberman Pinscher

Dogs are very interesting animals that can be used for many different purposes, For example they can be pets (duh) and they could be used for herding cattle and a lot of other things. So i'm gonna list the five smartest dog breeds in the world!

#5- The Doberman Pinscher is a really non-aggressive, loyal dog that is practically perfect to have as a family pet. It was originally bred in Germany.
        The Golden Retriever
#4- The Golden Retriever is a very friendly dog which is good at agility, obedience, retrieving and it can be a service dog.It originally came from Scotland.
     The German Sheperd

#3- The German Shepherd is a dog usually used for herding, but it also can be a great guard/protection dog.It comes from Germany as said in the name. (obviously..)

     The Poodle
#2- The Poodle is a dog known for its haircut. It was bred in Germany (3 of the most smartest dogs are from Germany.. wow..) for hunting birds and retrieving water. It is not that hard to train.
     The Border Collie
#1- The Border Collie is a dog originating from the highland border of England and Scotland. It was bred to think independently and they have the intelligence to solve problems and the strong working drive to keep control of the flock.

A great example of the intelligence of the Border Collie is a dog named Chaser. Chaser can identify/remember 1022 names of toys and she can retrieve them. She has the largest tested memory of any animal. (except for humans, obviously. Like seriously imagine a dog smarter than all humans..)
    Here's a video of Chaser!

    My least favorite dog breeds!

If there is something you like, there is always a part of it you dislike.. For example some dog breeds. I'm going to state a few dogs that I just don't really like. The reasons that I don't like the following dogs are because some might just be insane or if you don't train it well, then you might get a giant living ball of fur leaping on to you everytime you call its name..

NOTE: all dogs are cute and i don't absolutely hate these dogs it's just that there is may be a couple of things that I don't really like about these dogs. So if you are the owner of one of these dogs then.. DON'T HURT ME PLZ!

         The Bolognese
Aside from sounding like a delicious, Italian, meaty sauce to put on your spaghetti or pasta, (Mmm., spaghetti..) this cute little dog is somewhat nice to its family but it also loves getting its own way on things. So if you are the owner of one of these then don't let this walking furball get cheeky. Ok?
     The English Toy Spaniel
These dogs are actually very cute, with their big, fluffy ears. But they can be somewhat mischievous, also, these dogs HATE being left alone. They love their owner but they can be shy or dislike strangers or other people they don't see often. Oh yeah, they really like to drool, so be careful about that because nobody likes dog drool on their clothes..
     Komondor
Originally looking like it was bred to be used as a mop, this dog was bred to guard livestock. So they are independent, and they really love to just sit there, watching their family making sure they're safe. One problem with this dog is that since they're protective you have to introduce it to new people in your home, so then once the dog accepts the person to be in the house, it will just do what it always does, just sitting there making sure they are safe. Also they can be quite aggressive to other dogs. If this dogs' protection instincts go too far then they might end up attacking a total stranger which could lead to lawsuits.. So if you own this dog then please be careful when this dog is around strangers. And, these dogs' hair is SO hard to groom.

    Maltese

These dogs are really fluffy but, with great fluffiness comes great shedding. And I'm pretty sure that nobody likes shedded dog hair on their clothes.. That's the one reason why I don't like this dog. If it didn't shed then I'd really love this dog, I mean just look at it's face! It's so cute..
     Old English Sheepdog
This dogs' fur is quite crazy-looking but it sheds a little bit and this dog drools moderately. 'Nuff'  said.
     Xoloitzcuintli
This dog sheds a lot and drools a lot. It hates being left alone and it's fur is very easy to groom. (I mean, just look at it, It has the thinnest layer of fur ever.) When i first read its name I had no idea how to pronounce it but thanks to the power of google you pronounce it like: show-low-eats-queent-lee.
