The Most Famous Dogs In History!

All dogs can be trained different things like go fetch, sit, stay, etc. But these dogs that I'm about to list are known by lots of people because of a certain thing that happened to them or what action they did. (Note:these dogs are very famous although some are dead. But they are still remembered. Plz don't cri.)
  #6-Balto
When a serious case of diphtheria went to Nome(in Alaska), The city was infected. The only doctor didn't have enough medicine for everyone, so the port was closed when it became Winter. But then a pack of sled dogs that was lead by Balto ran six-hundred and fifty miles across Alaska (for five and a half days) and brought the diphtheria medicine just in time.
 #5-Checkers
Richard Nixon- former US president was yet to become president, he was receiving private donations. One of these donations was Checkers, he belonged to Nixon's daughter. When Nixon was  saying his speech to become president he said ''You know the kids, like all kids, loved the dog, and I just want to say this, right now, regardless of what they say about it, we are going to keep it.'' Checkers was the main reason why Nixon became the US president. When Nixon got to the White House, Checkers sadly passed away. But he will always be known as the dog that saved the career of Richard Nixon.

 #4- Rin Tin Tin
Rin Tin Tin was saved from the trenches of WW1(World War One if you don't know..). He was saved on a French battlefield by an American soldier called Lee Duncan. They arrived to the US and Duncan trained Rin and got him a few roles in some silent movies. In 1929 Rin got a role in a movie called ''Where the North Begins''. This movie was made by Warner Bros. The film and Rin were a great success. Rin Tin Tin then starred in twenty-seven other movies. People believe that Rin is the one responsible for making Warner Bros not enter the verge of being bankrupt.

 #3- Argos
Back in Ancient Greece, Argos was a dog who was very faithful and loved his master. His master was named Odysseus. He raised Argos ever since he was a puppy, but Odysseus was the King of Ithaca so he left for the Trojan war and he was gone for twenty years. When Odysseus returned not even his own family could recognise him, but Argos could and he started to wag his tail. Soon after Argos greeted his master, he passed away.

 #2-Capitan
Capitan's owner, Manuel Guzman died in 2006. Because of this Capitan ran away from home. The family found Capitan mourning at his owner's grave. He returns to Manuel's grave every night. Hector Baccega, a cemetery director said that the staff at the central Argentinian cemetery are now taking care of Capitan.

 #1- Lassie
Lassie is the most famous dog but she is a fictional character. From 1943 to 2007 Lassie was depicted by a male collie called Pal(Pal is the dog in the photo). Lassie's character is a female dog, but she was sometimes played by male collies like Pal because they had a thicker coat in Summer so they were more ''fluffy.'' Random Fact: To make sure human child actors didn't outgrow lassie while filming, male collies were used because they were bigger than female collies.

Here is a clip from the start of a lassie movie. This one was made in 1994, not that long ago.
 Thanks For Reading!
